Why Thymol?
The EPA classifies Thymol (at the level used in our products) to have a low toxicity rating and it is not aware of any adverse effects to humans or the environment when used as directed on the packaging label.
How does Thymol kill germs?
Thymol is a key component of various essential oils, which have long been used for their antibacterial properties. Like most other active disinfectants, Thymol breaks down the cell membrane, which exposes the cell nucleus, and kills the pathogen.
